and coaching have emerged as essential tools for fostering resilience, engagement, and productivity. This presentation explores the

transformative power of these techniques in both personal and professional contexts, offering actionable insights for leaders, educators,

and individuals seeking meaningful change. Positive reinforcement, grounded in behavioral psychology, emphasizes recognizing and

rewarding desired behaviors to encourage their repetition. When paired with positive coaching strategies, this goal-oriented approach

creates an environment of trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement. As a result of this workshop, the participants will:

From College to Career: Supporting Neurodiversity for Students, Professionals, and Employers

This presentation is designed to provide actionable strategies for career service professionals and employers to better support students

and employees with executive functioning (EF) challenges, particularly those who identify as neurodivergent. By framing this

conversation through a neurodiversity lens, participants will:

1) Explore the mutual benefits of fostering inclusive and supportive pathways for neurodivergent individuals

2) Learn how these strategies can improve outcomes for all students and employer

3) Develop actionable strategies for supporting neurodivergent students / clients

10:30-11:30 Breakout Session #2

Driving Student Engagement using a Flexible Career Development Certificate Program

This presentation will explore how the Meredith College Office of Career Planning implements Angels Suited for Success, a career

development certificate program that fosters student engagement and the development of NACE career competencies through a

structured yet flexible approach. Learn how adaptable strategies and collaboration with faculty and campus partners boost participation

and ensure the program meets diverse student needs. Hear challenges, success stories, and learning moments.

As a result of this session, participants will:

1) Learn strategies for designing and facilitating a career development certificate program.

2) Explore strategies for incentivizing student participation in career programming while maintaining program flexibility.

3) Understand methods for collaborating with faculty and campus partners to increase student engagement and program reach.

4) Identify how to incorporate NACE career competencies into adaptable and impactful career programs tailored to meet various

student needs and enhance student skill development.


1:45-2:45 Breakout Session #3

The Lost Art of Eye Contact and Other Competencies

Today the knowledge economy is giving way to a relationship economy, in which people skills and social abilities are going to become

even more core to success than ever before.” (NYTimes 2/14/24) In this workshop we will explore the importance of building

competencies such as professionalism, leadership, teamwork, and cultural responsiveness for college students.Hear about DegreePlus

at Western Carolina University – a model for teaching transferable skills.

As a result of this session, participants will:

1) Learn about the skills that employers value and why we should be teaching them

2) Discover why AI is making these skills more valuable

3) Discuss how to include these important skills in your career counseling and employee recruitment


The AI Advantage: Renewing Career Practices, Rising Toward Efficiency and Effectiveness

(audience: colleges & employers) *Submitted for NBCC approval - 1 CE

It’s been a year since AI was discussed at the 2024 Conference—so what have you done with it since then? This session will explore

how career services professionals can incorporate AI into their work, focusing on the use of AI for career evaluation, exploration, and

execution in collaboration with students, alumni, and colleagues. Presenter will share experiences, insights, and data on utilizing AI

across various aspects of career services, including career exploration, resume and professional document evaluation, interview

preparation, and communication. Participants will also learn about the potential pitfalls and ethical considerations of AI in professional

practice. Through interactive activities like think-pair-share, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss and exchange strategies,

challenges, and successes in using AI within their own roles. By the end of the session, attendees will evaluate their current AI practices

and walk away with actionable ideas for integrating AI into their work with students, alumni, and colleagues.

As a result of this session, participants will:

1) Empower participants to integrate AI into career services, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in supporting students, staff,

and alumni.

2) Develop awareness of potential AI pitfalls and acquire strategies to navigate them in career services and individualized career

support.

3) Examine AI implementation strategies and evaluate them against current practices to identify opportunities for improvement

and innovation.
