The NCACE organization began in 1969 as the North Carolina Placement Association, in which its purpose is to bring together all facets of the business, industrial, governmental and post-secondary level educational institutions within North Carolina with the goal of economic growth, employment, and professional development. With an original membership of 104 members, the organization has tripled to more than 350 members in 2023.
The basic constitution and by-laws were written in February of 1970, setting forth the organization as an educational and charitable group with a goal to promote and develop cooperation between members, develop a high degree of professionalism in the field, to promote research and the exchange of information needed to develop practices and procedures used in the field. In 1996, membership unanimously approved a name change to the North Carolina Association of Colleges and Employers.
Today, our organization thrives with an annual conference, numerous engagement opportunities throughout the year, as well as a robust membership and engaged membership base. As we approach the upcoming NCACE era, we encourage you to consider joining or getting involved with the organization. Each of our three regions is represented by two Regional Representatives to ensure that each region has a voice in executive team decisions, and we encourage members to reach out. As was established in the organization’s inception, NCACE is here to serve the career development community across our state.
